Core Brands® BlueBOLT® SP-1000 SmartPlug Provides Low-Cost Solution for Remote Power Control and Energy Management

Affordable Device Enables Delivery of BlueBOLT Functionality Throughout an Entire Space to Reduce Energy Consumption and Service Calls

PETALUMA, Calif. — Dec. 19, 2013 — After the successful introduction of the BlueBOLT® Mobile site, Core Brands® today announced that the award-winning SP-1000 SmartPlug is delivering BlueBOLT control to any outlet in the building. Designed to provide low-cost remote power control and energy management capabilities, the device allows integrators to cost-effectively distribute BlueBOLT functionality throughout residential and commercial spaces to lower energy consumption and reduce service calls.

Offering a thin profile of 1.25 inches, the SP-1000 SmartPlug packs energy monitoring, load control and scheduled conservation in a compact form factor that plugs directly into any standard 120V, 15A outlet. Utilizing ZigBee® wireless communications, the SP-1000 can be monitored, controlled, programmed and remotely accessed via BlueBOLT’s energy management and control platform via the wired BB-ZB1 gateway.

For integrators, BlueBOLT reduces service calls through remote control of the SP-1000’s two AC outlets from any Internet-enabled device and by automatically rebooting network equipment. In addition, the platform provides real-time and historical power-related data, including energy consumption in kWh and dollars. This data allows installers to categorize and track their clients’ energy usage in residential and commercial settings, and schedule conservation commands to power-down equipment during planned downtime, thereby eliminating wasted power and lowering utility bills.

“The SP-1000 expands our SmartPlug offering with a low-cost option that allows installers to more easily deliver the benefits of the BlueBOLT platform throughout an entire residential or commercial space,” said John Benz, director of power and accessories, Core Brands. “With the SP-1000, AC outlets can be controlled and monitored anytime, from anywhere, using a mobile phone, tablet or computer. All that’s needed is one BB-ZB1 gateway, which can support up to 15 SP-1000 units.”

The SP-1000 is available at an MSRP of $49.95. The BB-ZB1 gateway is available at an MSRP of $99.95.

BlueBOLT® Introduces New Network Management Feature Upgrade to Existing Products

Free and Automatic Upgrade Available in Q4 for Panamax® MD2-ZB and BB-ZB1 Product Family

PETALUMA, Calif. — Aug. 20, 2013 — BlueBOLT® today announced that the company has introduced a network management feature to its cloud-based power and energy management platform. The new feature allows users to query (ping) any device with an IP address on a network from a BlueBOLT-enabled component with a BlueBOLT-CV1 card. In the event of a failed ping response, BlueBOLT can send email notifications, reboot an outlet, reboot a series of outlets in sequence, or any combination of the above. A boon for integrators, the network management feature facilitates a self-healing network, which will drastically reduce service calls, limit truck rolls, and ultimately provide a better experience for the end user.

Initially designed to facilitate the control of power and energy usage and remotely reboot problem components in installed electronics systems, the company’s hardware and software technology provides an intuitive, plug-and-play Web interface where users can control AC outlets to schedule, monitor, and manage their energy consumption easily. With this new feature, BlueBOLT expands from power and energy management to network management — a key infrastructure element — for a full systems management platform.

“Because BlueBOLT is designed to be the simplest Web-based power management solution available, network management was the next logical step,” said John Benz, director of power and accessories, Core Brands®. “With the unique ability to ping devices directly from the cloud, integrators, contractors, installers, and technicians can diagnose and repair networks remotely, resulting in fewer vehicles on the street and a greater power and cost-savings for the end user. Combined with BlueBOLT’s auto-reboot feature to ensure a consistent connection to the Internet, BlueBOLT provides a tremendous amount of value to both the integrator and their clients by ensuring systems perform their best.”

The network management feature can be utilized in commercial or residential applications where networked equipment could potentially lock up. By leveraging the cloud-based ping, problematic networked equipment can be automatically rebooted from anywhere in the world, eliminating potential service calls and reducing system downtime.

Available now at no additional charge, the network management feature can be found on the BlueBOLT platform’s “Location Details” screen and will work with preinstalled Panamax® or Furman® products in the field with a BlueBOLT-CV1 card installed (firmware update required). In addition, the feature will be available in Q4 for use with the Panamax® MD2-ZB and BB-ZB1 product family.

Panamax Now Shipping MD2-ZB SmartPlug and BB-ZB1 BlueBOLT® Gateway

Units Bring Energy Management, Surge Protection, and BlueBOLT® Functionality to Individual Outlets for Small Appliances Throughout a Home or Facility

PETALUMA, Calif. — April 30 ,2013 — Panamax® today announced that it is now shipping its MD2-ZB SmartPlug and BB-ZB1 BlueBOLT® gateway. The devices bring energy management, surge protection, and BlueBOLT functionality to individual outlets for electronics throughout a building, providing a low-cost way to reduce energy consumption significantly while reducing service calls for installers.

Part of the Panamax “MD” family of direct plug-in devices, the MD2-ZB SmartPlug provides energy monitoring, individual outlet control, scheduled conservation, and surge protection in a compact form factor that plugs directly into any standard 120V, 15A outlet. Utilizing ZigBee® wireless communications, the MD2-ZB can be monitored, controlled, programmed, and remotely accessed via Panamax/Furman’s cloud-based BlueBOLT energy management and control platform via the wired BB-ZB1 gateway.

For integrators, BlueBOLT reduces service calls through remote control of the MD2-ZB’s two discrete AC outlets from any Internet-enabled device. In addition, the platform provides real-time and historical power related data, including energy consumption in kWh and dollars by outlet. This data allows integrators to schedule conservation periods to eliminate wasted power and decrease utility bills.

Offering a thin profile of 1.5 inches, the MD2-ZB houses two side-mounted outlets and provides status, network, and wiring fault indicators, in addition to push-button “override” power switches to power outlets on/off instantly from the top of the device. To protect electronics, the unit’s Protect-or-Disconnect™ circuitry completely disconnects AC power to connected equipment in the event of a catastrophic surge. To accommodate the look of any room, the MD2-ZB’s front cover can easily be removed and painted to match the wall color.

Offering the plug-and-play ease of installation that BlueBOLT is known for, the gateway (BB-ZB1) connects to a user’s network via an Ethernet cable and creates a wireless mesh network supporting up to fifteen SmartPlugs per gateway. MD2-ZB units will be added to each user’s BlueBOLT account along with any hardwired BlueBOLT power conditioner component models, providing a single destination for simple and intuitive remote power and energy management solutions, anywhere in the world, via the cloud.

“The MD2-ZB SmartPlug and BB-ZB1 gateway represent a significant extension of the BlueBOLT platform, taking it beyond the equipment rack to individual power outlets,” said John Benz, director of power and accessories, Core Brands. “For end-users, this not only provides surge protection for all their devices, but it can help give them a true indicator of their power consumption and how best to cut it down. For integrators, the ability to expand BlueBOLT’s remote-reboot benefits outside of the equipment rack provides tremendous flexibility to better service their customers.”

The MD2-ZB and BB-ZB1 are shipping now at an MSRP of $119.95 and $99.95 respectively.
